PLEASE ADD A LETTER TO REMOVE STATE TAX LIEN THAT WAS INCORRECT. I FOUND OUT STATE OF CALIF HAD 2 STATE TAX LIENS ON MY CREDIT. WHEN I RESOLVED THEM (I DID NOT PAY TO RESOLVE THEM THEY WERE ERRORS) MY CREDIT REPORT REFLECTED A PAID/RELEASED STATUS WHICH HURTS MY CREDIT FOR ANOTHER 7 YEARS. I NEED TO HAVE THEM WITHDRAWN OR REMOVED. PLEASE SEE THIS POSTING http://answers.google.com/answers/threadview/id/729900.html AS IT IS SIMILIAR TO MY SITUATION. HERE IS THE STATEMENT FROM CALIFORNIA TAX BOARD http://www.ftb.ca.gov/individuals/liens/liens.shtml. THEY ALSO STATE I SHOULD BE ABLE TO GET COPIES OF THE LIEN RELEASES AT THE COUNTY RECORDERS OFFICE AND I CHECKED BOTH AND 1 DOESNT HAVE ANYTHING LISTED AND THE OTHER ONLY HAS THE LIEN AND NOT THE RELEASE.

THANK YOU

Hi there! Thanks for the information and interesting reading! Actually, disputing an item like a Tax Lien that has been recorded in error is quite easy with the wizard in our existing Credit-Aid Software (both home and pro versions). I can not give legal advice, but I can give you general information.... :)

I do not believe anyone with this situation needs a letter specific to tax liens. The current Wizard in Credit-Aid can dispute anything that is on a credit report. Then it's up to the Credit Bureaus to verify. Then within 30 days the item is either removed or verified... and if it comes back verified, you can demand proof (and we have letters for that in the software as well).

Since the disputes you are making are nearly always sent to the credit bureau who is reporting the incorrect info, just use the WIZARD. When you get to Wizard Step 3, this is what you might do for a situation like you described:

1) In the dropdown menu for "REASON" "Other information I would like changed"
2) For Creditor/Furnisher type "STATE OF CALIF" (or whoever has reported this incorrect item to the bureau).
3) In the "Explanation" box write one sentance that is applicable and descriptive, such as "I have never had a tax lien. This item is an error please remove."

That creates exactly the letter you need in about 10 seconds and a couple mouse clicks. I hope that helps!
